Benny has a vast experience in shipping & logistics, specializing in Supply Chain Management, Project Freight Forwarding, lean agile manpower structure.  

He also focused on logistics infrastructure of Industrial Parks and headed the office in UAE. In addition, Benny spearheaded the Policies and Crisis Management, quality improvement and ISO. He has trained ASEAN government officials programme by the Singapore Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Civil Service College, as well as foreign delegates and officials from ASEAN and other emerging economies in Economic Development Strategies. Proven success leading performance turnarounds and delivering measurable results from process and quality improvement and constantly redesign initiatives.  

Benny holds a BBA from Thames Valley University (UK), a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from The Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and an ACTA qualification. Patrick’s areas of expertise are in mentoring and coaching, career advisory, and supply chain management and optimisation. He is also knowledgeable in divestiture transition, and major suppliers’ network and capabilities.
 
In addition, he is well-versed in regional logistics hub operations, import and export management, procurement, contract negotiation, business controls, project management, demand and supply planning, inventory management, finance and customer fulfillment.

Profile Summary:

Chiang Meng started training more than 30 years ago when he facilitated Work Improvement Teams (WITS) in the RSAF – Air Engineering Training Institute. His passion for problem solving and process improvements brought him into the areas of LEAN Six Sigma and Design Thinking, with practical contributions towards the Logistics and Supply Chain Industry.

At some stage of his career, he soiled his hands into logistics operation of physically operating forklifts, palletizing cargo to loading cargo into aircraft giving him better understanding and empathy towards operational tasks. He went on with a MNC 3PL to head a Business Development vertical and moved on into managing a Transportation Business Unit before heading Operations Excellence in various Logistics Divisions.

Both his passion for training and demand for his training have allowed him to contribute towards different Organizations and Institutions throughout the different stages of his career.

My Career Experience

As a Regional Supply Chain & Logistics Manager for more than 25 years, I worked in various US based Specialty Chemicals (MNC) manufacturing companies shipping cargoes from US and Europe manufacturing plants to customers through distribution centres in Asia Pacific region. In addition, I also worked in Indonesian based Palm Oil (MNC) manufacturing companies shipping cargoes from South East Asia manufacturing plants to customers worldwide.

My key responsibilities are :

  • Managing end to end Supply Chain & Logistics operations
  • Order to Cash business process using SAP
  • Managing regional 3rd parties service providers, warehouses & Inventory control
  • Project management
  • Handling of dangerous chemicals ( international shipping & chemicals bulk storage )

I managed a team of Customer Service executives who process customer orders using SAP across various countries in Asia. The team responsibilities are to co-ordinate with 3rd parties service providers, distribution centers and negotiate shipping documents with banks.

I also hired, trained and mentored a team of Customer Service executives in multiple countries such as Singapore, China, Korea and Japan. Through these experiences working with colleagues from different background and cultures, I learnt and developed important soft skills like leadership training, problem solving skills, communication skills, motivation, networking and decision-making process.

My Goal

With the experience that I have built up across my career, I am very passionate to share my knowledge with future Logistics professionals and in doing so, hope that this is will beneficial in their career. In addition, her experience in coaching and mentoring management executives gave meaning to nurturing and making an impact in others’ lives.

SM Syed Ali is currently a Regional Director – Learning & Development Team in Purchasing and Supply Association Singapore (PASAS). Syed Ali also facilitates Training & Consultations related work for SPRINGS, Supply Chain and Logistics Academy (SCALA), Singapore Logistics Academy, PSB Academy. Prior to joining these aforesaid organizations, Syed has held key management positions in 3 Multi National (Manufacturing) Companies working across the Regions in Asia, Europe and USA in many Global Supply Chain Logistics Programs and Projects for about 33 years.  

Syed has moved into his passion to full time Training/Coaching/Consulting Leadership and SCM Logistics Management Programs effect from Jan 2013 with his acquired knowledge by coaching and sharing with his participants within our ASEAN Economies.  

Syed is also an Active Grass Root Community Leader and had received the 20 year Good Service Appreciation Award from our Singapore Prime Minister Office (PMO) in August 2019.
